Startups and growing businesses

Build a manageable privacy routine around the first important activities and decisions.

A typical activity to examine

A small company collects prospects, recruits staff and uses several cloud providers while its product and responsibilities keep changing.

Questions for the responsible team

Use these prompts to describe your own operation. They are examples, not a finding about your organisation.

  • Who can own privacy decisions and reserve time for follow-up?
  • Which three activities use the most important personal information?
  • What upcoming customer commitment or product change needs review first?

A useful first work package

Name an owner, map a small initial scope, identify material unknowns and produce a short action list with completion checks.

Ownership and scope

A founder or authorised manager must make priorities and implementation ownership explicit. Small size is not an automatic legal exemption, and it does not mean the business needs every possible advisory service.

Common questions

Does this industry label determine our legal obligations?

No. The activities, people, roles, geography and applicable sector requirements need review.

What should we bring to an initial discussion?

Describe one important activity, the teams and providers involved, the records already available and the question you need to resolve. Use examples with unnecessary personal details removed.

Discuss the work you need

Agree the service, deliverables, responsibilities and fees before committing to an engagement.
